Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams (Amazon, January 12)

It’s a damn disgrace that Philip K. Dick passed on in mid-1982, as he never got the opportunity to see the wide impact his work would after death has on filmmaking. Cutting edge Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report, A Scanner Darkly, The Man in the High Castle: All these and more depended on the visionary copyist’s work. Presently, he’s, at last, getting his name in lights with this Amazon treasury arrangement, which adjusts a variety of his short stories. The Philip K. Dick marking is fascinating, yet what will probably draw watchers most is the high gauge of the cast: Bryan Cranston, Steve Buscemi, Anna Paquin, and Terrence Howard top pick in scenes. With this regularly disheartening dramatization about human yearning and slightness against the setting of cutting-edge universes, Amazon no uncertainty trusts Electric Dreams will turn into its own special Black Mirror. — Abraham Riesman
